The Third and Final Guided Missile Destroyer HMAS Sydney has officially been commissioned into service for the Royal Australian Navy.πŸ˜‰πŸ€©πŸ˜ŽπŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

The Australian DDG class Guided Missile Destroyers are equipped with the advance AEGIS area Defense system which is networked with the Japanese Navy and the USN with a partnership air and sea Electronic Warfare Defense network interoperability system between allied Navies.

The Aegis combat system:-

"... state-of-the-art phased array radar, AN/SPY 1D(V), in combination with the SM-2 missile, will provide an advanced air defence system capable of engaging enemy aircraft and missiles at ranges in excess of 150km." (ADF)
